工業(yè)和應用數(shù)學學會 (SIAM) 于20世紀50年代前期在美國成立，是一個以促進應用和計算數(shù)學的研究、發(fā)展、應用為目的的協(xié)會。到目前為止其個人會員數(shù)已超過13,000人，由來自世界各國的應用和計算數(shù)學家、計算機科學家、工程師、統(tǒng)計學家和數(shù)學教育者組成。此外，SIAM還有500多個由大學，公司和研究機構(gòu)組成的機構(gòu)會員。

SIAM出版的15種同行評審的研究期刊在應用和計算數(shù)學的高等研究領域非常著名，它們涵蓋了整個應用和計算數(shù)學領域，內(nèi)容豐富而全面。根據(jù)ISI2009年出版的期刊引用報告JCR，幾乎所有SIAM的期刊的影響因子都接近或超過1。這些期刊的編委會也是相應研究領域的領先者。SIAM的作者來自世界各地，他們同時也將SIAM看作自己的研究家園。SIAM收到的投稿量連年增長，同時退稿率也相當高，出版的高質(zhì)量得以保證。
