On May 12th, 2025, China-Central Asia Industry-University-Research-Application Cooperation Conference was held in Urumqi. Ma Xingrui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Huai Jinpeng, Secretary and Minister of the Party Group of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Ivanets, Minister of Education of Belarus, Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, and Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Wu Yan, Deputy Minister of Education of P.R.C.; Deputy Minister Wang Guangyan also attended the meeting. On behalf of CUP, Party Secretary Wang Tongqi signed an agreement with Kazakhstan’s Kazakh-British Technical University to jointly build a clean geological energy joint laboratory, after which he delivered a speech. CUP Vice President, CUPK Party Secretary and President Li Jun attended the meeting when he made an introduction to the overall achievements of the campus and CUPK’s progress in international education. Deans of the relevant functional departments of CUPK accompanied the attendees to participate in the exhibition.
With the release of the brand image of “Study in China” with its comprehensive service platforms, the Xinjiang Higher Research Institute directly led by the Ministry of Education of the P.R.C. initiated its construction. Li Jun informed more than 400 guests, including Chinese and foreign government officials, university leaders, experts and professors about the educational achievements and advantages of CUPK in the special exhibition area of the “Study in China, Study in Xinjiang” education exhibition. CUPK vividly showcased its features in talent cultivation and in international education in the field of petroleum and petrochemicals through fossil samples, drilling tool models, crude oil samples, brochures, and exhibition boards.
CUPK has currently established cooperative relationships with 10 universities in Central Asia and will carry out deeper cooperation in areas such as joint laboratory construction, joint student training programs, and short-term teacher-student exchange projects. CUPK plans to open 4 undergraduate majors, 10 master’s majors, and 8 doctoral majors for international students by 2025, mainly aimed at expanding its scale of education for students from Central Asian countries to contribute to the construction of a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future.
