古植物學(xué)、植物地理學(xué)、古生態(tài)學(xué)。
古植物學(xué),又稱植物演化生物學(xué),為古生物學(xué)的一個(gè)分支學(xué)科,以研究植物界的演化為宗旨,涉及對(duì)化石植物形態(tài)學(xué)、解剖學(xué)、分類學(xué)、生態(tài)學(xué)、植物地理學(xué)等方面的綜合研究。新生代(距今6500萬年以來)是地質(zhì)歷史上與人類生存與發(fā)展關(guān)系最為密切的時(shí)期,是一個(gè)全球大氣二氧化碳濃度在長(zhǎng)時(shí)間尺度上逐漸降低,全球溫度也逐步降低,陸地生態(tài)系統(tǒng)中被子植物取代裸子植物成為植物界主宰的時(shí)代。通過對(duì)植物化石的研究,可以重建植物界各門類演化的序列,同時(shí),通過提取化石富含的環(huán)境和氣候信息,可以從定性到定量恢復(fù)古氣候,在長(zhǎng)時(shí)間尺度和大空間范圍上探討生物演化與氣候環(huán)境變化的相關(guān)關(guān)系,形成了生命科學(xué)、地球科學(xué)和環(huán)境科學(xué)緊密交叉和相互滲透的非常活躍的領(lǐng)域。
